| CHARACTER EDUCATION IN FAIRFIELD Leadership, spirit, empathy, responsibility, integrity and respect are the building blocks - a foundation of character – upon which the successful student and the contributing citizen stands. For many years, the Fairfield schools have sought to instill qualities of character through the curriculum we teach, the day-to-day interaction between students and staff and the extracurricular activities we offer.
Schools do not stand alone in their responsibility to promote good character, a pattern of behavior adopted through all of an individual’s day-to-day interactions within their community.
Throughout the year, the schools will reach out to parents and the community, promoting the effort with a continuous flow of information regarding character traits. Participating local businesses, faith-based organizations and public agencies from the police and fire departments, to the library and YMCA are each developing their own strategies to encourage the development of these positive personality traits.
